Why Use Cookies?
We use session cookies to indicate each user's status when logged into the CNS web site. These cookies are never stored on your hard disk and are only live during your current browser session.

Are Cookies Safe?
We only use session cookies - cookies that go away as soon as you close your browser or log out of the CNS website. A cookie cannot be used to extract information from your system. You can not get a virus from a cookie.

How Can I Tell If My Cookies Are On?
If you ended up here, they probably are not turned on.


Follow the step by step instructions below to enable "Cookies" on the browser that you are using.

Enabling Cookies in Internet Explorer (General)

  1. From Internet Explorer, select Tools, Options, and click on the Security tab.
  2. Click on the Internet zone, then click on Custom Level.
  3. Scroll down to Cookies and click within the Enable radio buttons beneath Allow cookies that are stored on your computer and Allow per-session cookies (not stored).
  4. Click on OK. When asked if you really want to change security levels, choose Yes. Click on OK again to return to Internet Explorer.

For Internet Explorer 6:

  1. Click the Tools button on the top menu bar of your browser.
  2. Next, select Internet Options.
  3. Click on the Privacy Tab
  4. You will see a vertical scroll bar.
  5. Click and drag the marker to the bottom, when you do this a message will appear on the right stating something like "Accept All Cookies"
  6. Click the "Apply" button so that it takes effect. You might need to restart the browser.

    For Internet Explorer 5:

    1. Click the Tools button on the top menu bar of your browser.
    2. Next, select Internet Options.
    3. Click on Security.
    4. Click on Custom Settings... (you may have to click on Default Level first).
    5. Scroll down until you see "Cookies."
    6. Set "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" to "Enable."

    For Internet Explorer 4:

    1. Click the View button on the top menu bar of your browser.
    2. Next, select Internet Options.
    3. Click on Advanced.
    4. Scroll down until you see "Cookies."
    5. Select Always accept cookies.

    Enabling Cookies in Internet Explorer 4.x for Macintosh

    1. From Internet Explorer, select Preferences from the Edit menu.
    2. Click on the option Receiving files, and click on Cookies.
    3. On the right side of the window, next to When receiving cookies:, make sure that either Never ask, Ask for each site, or Ask for each cookie is selected.
    4. Click on OK.

    Enabling Cookies in Netscape

    1. From Netscape, select Edit, then choose Preferences.
    2. Select Advanced from the menu on the left side of the Preferences window.
    3. On the right side of the window, click within either the Accept all cookies radio button or the Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server.
    4. Click on OK to return to Netscape.

    AOL 9.0

    1. From the AOL Toolbar, click Preferences.
    2. Click www on the left hand portion of the screen, the image should look like a globe.
    3. Click the 5th tab at the top labeled Cookies.
    4. Check Enable all cookies.
    5. Click OK.

    AOL 8.0

    1. From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
    2. Select Preferences.
    3. Select Internet Properties. (WWW)
    4. Select the Privacy tab.
    5. Select Advanced.
    6. Deselect override automatic cookie handling button.
    7. Click OK to exit.

    AOL 7.0 with IE 6.x

    1. From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
    2. Select Preferences.
    3. Select Internet Properties. (WWW)
    4. Select the Privacy tab.
    5. Select Advanced.
    6. Deselect override automatic cookie handling button.
    7. Click OK to exit.

    AOL 7.0 with IE 5.5

    1. From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
    2. Select Preferences.
    3. Select Internet Properties. (WWW)
    4. Select the Security tab.
    5. Select the Custom Level tab.
    6. Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click "Enable".
    7. Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click "Enable".
    8. Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings.

    AOL, version 6.0:

    1. Click on Settings>Preferences.
    2. Click on Internet Properties.
    3. Click on Security.
    4. Click on Custom Level... (you may have to click on Default Level first).
    5. Scroll down until you see "Cookies."
    6. Set "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" to "Enable."

    AOL, version 5.0 or earlier:

    1. Click on My AOL at the top of the screen.
    2. Click on WWW in the left column.
    3. Click on Advanced Settings ...
    4. In the left column, under Receiving Files, click on Cookies.
    5. Next to "When receiving cookies:" choose "Never ask."
    6. Click OK.
    7. Click OK.
